When we renamed from Designstein to RUN we wanted the people we work with to know about it. So we launched with a beautifully ugly event and collateral around that. It takes a creative agency, a simple idea and a name change to turn a room full of beautiful people ugly. Clients old and new, media, suppliers, partners, friends and whānau were invited via letter-pressed invite and microsite wevechanged.co.nz to celebrate RUN’s official launch event at Ponsonby Social Club. The website featured the two agency directors ‘face swapped’, commandeering the popular (at the time) face-swapping app technology, as well as a behind the scenes video. Not conforming to the standard event format where wide-eyed models and industry giants pose beautifully for the paparazzi, we continued the theme by having a roving ‘face swapping’ photographer, making the photogenic crowd really ugly. Celebrity cut-outs were also handed out to ‘face-swap’ with. This all culminated in a fun event and successful launch.
