Sustainable Niue, Leveki Puipui Tanaki, is an eco initiative formed by a number of organisations, including the Government of Niue. The mandate is to help Niue become more sustainable for the community, the environment and the economy, in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Pacific region initiatives. To help drive the project RUN was tasked with developing a visual identity, which appears on reusable bags, t-shirts and acts as a driver to progress sustainability initiatives. To launch the brand and celebrate International Plastic Bag Free Day, Niue announced its ban on single use plastic bags on the island. For the launch we created a large ‘jellyfish’ out of plastic bags, which was used digitally, as well as an activation, educational tool and conversation starter at the annual SPTE conference in Adelaide. Personalised postcards were created as a budget-friendly and eco-conscious event follow-up DM piece. The jellyfish is now on permanent display at the Niue Tourism Information Centre, as part of a display and installation we also created at the centre, in support ofSustainable Niue. Many more environmental initiatives are planned in the next few years, as Niue maintains an ongoing effort to promote sustainable practices.
